Work Permit |
Article 27 of the Turkish Law on Foreigners and International Protection substitutes work permits for residence permits.
All foreign nationals have the right to apply for various types of work permits in the situations listed below:
A foreign person who begins working for a legal entity in Turkey (such as a company) or a public institution may obtain a Turkish work permit for a maximum of one year. This period may later be extended through renewal applications.
A foreign person who is a shareholder and manager of a Turkish limited company, and/or a board member of a Turkish joint-stock company, as well as an active partner of a partnership limited by shares, may apply.
Foreign nationals who already have a long-term Turkish residence permit or a work permit valid for at least 8 years may apply for an indefinite work permit. In other words, after the transition period, they will have the same rights as Turkish citizens, with the exception of the right to vote, stand for election, and enter public service, with no obligation of mandatory military service.
Foreigners with a Turquoise Card are eligible to apply for an indefinite work permit.
